What if you had a magical fae power, but it was misunderstood and made you a mistrusted villain, what if your only opportunity to escape was a hunger games themed battle with three victors at the end, what if you are part of a secret rebellion trying to prove your worth to the leadership?
Weaving together all the above is Selena Hale, or Selena Soulstealer - a fisherwoman fae who signs up for the Atonement Trials - think hunger games with a dash of magic, add in a broody dragon shifter commander who's looks are more lethal than his disdainful or was it a smoldering glare.. you are left breathless with anticipation, and read with a fervor!
I polished off this intriguing and exciting series opener from the pen of Marion Blackwood in a single day! She hones the I-want-to-be-liked-but-also-win duality of Selena's heartache to a spearpoint and her contrast in her dealings with Draven make it an absolutely spectacular read!! Armed with her wits and will, Selena embodies the best of heroines like Feyre and Violet in her ability to sass the enemy making it seductively sensational!
My thank yous to Scarlett Press and Netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to enjoy the ARC - I relished it thoroughly! I CANNOT wait for the sequel...
